Custom Injection Molding / Product Development

Tooling

At Robert A Millett Co. we are capable of providing tooling geared to cover your every need. From our low cost proprietary custom 7075 aluminium Unit-die tools, to multiple cavity high production Class A steel tools. We pride ourselves with building ALL of our tooling in the U.S.A. From concept to tooling design, we work with our in house tool makers to create our customers desired results. Each product is examined and reviewed to determine the most economical and highest quality way to produce the customers end product.

Proprietary Unit-Die
Our proprietary Unit-Die system allow extremely quick turn around time manufacturing the tools in our facility. The system also has benefits such as standard slide pulls and quick mold modifications / development changes due to custom fixtures in our Fadal C.N.C Mill.

Aluminium Tooling
Aluminium tools are quickest to produce and most cost effective. These tools are machined from a Aircraft Quality U.S.A. made 7075-T6. Aluminium tooling is Ideal for smaller volumes or products that are expecting design changes.

Steel Tooling
Steel tools are tougher and more durable but take longer to produce and have higher cost involved. These are suited for larger volumes or when injection molding glass filled plastics that would wear aluminium tools.

  • Pre-hardened tool steel is used for quantities of 100,000 and more, depending on plastic material and part geometry. We use U.S.A. made P20 and Royalloy Stainless Steel.
  • Fully-hardened tool steel is the most durable and can be used to produce millions of injection molded parts. Heat treated U.S.A.   made H13 steel and 420 is ideal for high production volumes or when injecting abrasive engineering-grade plastics.

Injection Molding

We at Robert A. Millett Co. are Orange County's premier thermoplastic injection molding company offering custom injection molding services for the manufacture of plastic products used in a broad range of industries, including automotive, military, medical, electronics, hobby, tactical and marine industries. Our facility is equipped with six Toyo computer controlled injection molding machines, which range in tonnage from 35 tons to150 tons of clamp force and have shot capacities ranging from 0.9 oz to 8.8 oz.

With our custom injection molding capabilities, we can produce a wide variety of sizes and shapes. Low volume production runs as few as 50 parts can be handled or 100,000+ parts. Our molding services are offered in a wide variety of engineering and commodity materials. We also have the capabilities to deal with exotic carbon fibre and fibreglass filled materials.

As part of our plastic injection molding services, we can provide insert molding. Furthermore, we offer molding services for parts made from high strength composites that can be used to replace metal components. Packaging and  assembly are some value added services that we can provide as well.
